Vacancy notice for SCD Project officer



Norwegian Lutheran Mission in Mongolia (NLM-M) is a Non-Profit, Non-Governmental Christian Organization, now implementing two development projects in Mongolia; Strengthening Primary Health Care and Strengthening Children’s Rights Project by the funding of Norwegian Government (NORAD).

From 1st of January 2018 NLM-M will start a pre-project; “Strengthening Children with Disabilities’ Development” (SCD). This will also be mainly funded by the Norwegian Government (NORAD). This pre-project is a planning project in 2018-2019, and will, if possible, continue as a long-term project for 5 years from 2020. The project’s main goal is that children with disabilities and their families’ life condition is improved and their rights are respected and protected.

NLM-M’s “Strengthening Children with Disabilities’ Development” (SCD) pre-project is seeking to recruit a dynamic and qualified full-time project officer/translator to assist in the implementation of this project starting from 1stJanuary 2018. She/he will be based in Khovd province, but will do regularly trips to Bayan-Ulgii.


Project officer/translator

Key responsibilities of this assignment will include:

  • Responsible for coordinating regional project activities and help with financial matters
  • Responsible for conducting surveys and workshops in cooperation with partners

·        Responsible for trainings; develop material for trainings and ensure quality training methods and content. Will also be facilitator in some trainings/work shops

  • Do all necessary translating.
  • Responsible for doing monitoring and evaluation in cooperation with Project leader, Consultants and partners
  • Take part in planning of the long-term project


Qualifications and skills required include:

·        Completed higher education, preferably a master degree, within the sector of social work, health or education

  • Fluency in Mongolian and English with strong writing and spoken skills in both languages as well as translation and interpretation skills.
  • Experience in the development sector, preferably familiar with NLM-M or other international organizations.

·        Being proficient in PC based applications such as Word, Excel and data management and excellent web research and navigation skills.


Other qualifications and skills required:

·        Solid character and team spirit with a long-term commitment to the work within the timeframe as indicated. Have a positive “can do”-attitude.

·        Willingness to continued learning and to work and act according to NLM-M’s mission statement, values and standards of moral and ethics.

·        Deep listening and communication skills, and being respectful to others.

·        Expected to act as good examples towards the partners and the target group.
